Politics in the UK is shaped by its parliamentary democracy, where power is divided between the elected House of Commons and the appointed House of Lords. The Prime Minister leads the government, while the monarchy holds a ceremonial role. The UK’s political landscape has been increasingly influenced by issues such as Brexit, economic inequality, and regional tensions, particularly regarding Scotland’s independence. The two main political parties, the Conservative Party and the Labour Party, dominate the system, but smaller parties like the Liberal Democrats and the Scottish National Party (SNP) also hold significant influence in shaping national policies.
