The Path to Power Project analyzes the role of digital technologies in shaping political discourse, elections, and social movements, with a particular focus on how populism and misinformation affect democratic resilience in these diverse societies.
Kenya’s political landscape is shaped by a multi-party system, established following the end of one-party rule in 1991. The country operates under a presidential system, with the President serving as both head of state and government. Kenya’s bicameral Parliament consists of the National Assembly and the Senate. Major political parties include the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and Azimio la Umoja. Politics often revolve around ethnic alliances, significantly influencing electoral outcomes. The 2010 Constitution introduced devolved governance, creating 47 counties, each with its own government. Key political issues include corruption, economic development, and ethnic cohesion, which have shaped Kenya’s dynamic political environment.
